The Vice President of Sales will be instrumental in spearheading GumGum's market-leading contextual advertising platform across outer markets West of the Mississippi. Reporting to the SVP of Sales, this pivotal role demands a seasoned sales executive with a proven track record of success in the online media landscape.
The VP of Sales will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing sales team, fostering key relationships within the advertising community, and driving revenue growth through the successful adoption of GumGum's innovative solutions. This dynamic leadership position requires a deep understanding of the online media ecosystem, exceptional team management skills, and the ability to forge strategic partnerships that deliver tangible value to clients.
Note: This position offers the opportunity for remote work or 'work from home' as there isn't a nearby office. We are only open to considering candidates in the Minneapolis, Texas, Denver and Ohio territories. This role will require extensive traveling (50%) across the outer markets West of the Mississippi.
What You'll Achieve
Outer Territories Sales Team Leadership
Cultivate High-Performance Teams: Foster a collaborative and results-oriented sales culture, ensuring team members are empowered to achieve exceptional results. Oversee GumGum’s Outer Territories and Indies Sales Team and team productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
Drive Talent Development: Recruit, onboard, and develop top sales talent, providing ongoing coaching and mentorship to enhance individual and team performance.
Set and Achieve Ambitious Goals: Translate sales strategies into actionable goals, implement performance management frameworks, and coach team members on account-based strategies to maximize revenue potential.
Promote a Positive Employee Experience: Create a supportive and engaging work environment where team members feel valued and motivated to excel.
Champion Best Practices: Continuously seek out and implement innovative sales methodologies and best practices to drive team productivity and efficiency.
Lead by Example: Exemplify GumGum's values and ethical leadership principles, inspiring trust and respect within the team.
Drive Revenue Growth for Outer Territories and Indies Agencies
Deliver on Revenue Targets: Achieve and exceed revenue targets for the Outer Region, consistently driving year-over-year growth through proactive sales initiatives.
Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture strong relationships with key brand and agency contacts and clients, gaining a deep understanding of their business needs and providing tailored GumGum solutions.
Generate New Business Opportunities: Identify and qualify sales opportunities from marketing leads, as well as through proactive prospecting and outreach.
Expand Existing Client Relationships: Upsell current clients on new and existing products, leveraging GumGum's expertise in In-image and In-video display advertising and additional suite of offerings.
Focus on Key Categories: Drive sales activation and relationship development within key Outer region key verticals
Foster Client-Centricity: Gather and communicate valuable client insights to internal Product teams, ensuring GumGum's offerings continuously evolve to meet market demands.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Account Managers, Strategists, and other internal teams to ensure seamless client onboarding, campaign execution, and achievement of client objectives.
Lead Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with the North American Leadership Team to develop, manage, and execute strategic sales initiatives that drive significant revenue growth and market expansion.
Skills You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Media or Marketing/Advertising field
10+ years of selling experience in digital advertising sales)
Experience managing a team to deliver a large book of business (15M+)
Demonstrated experience coaching team members to improve performance
Must have strong selling experience and track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets demonstrated with a list of brand and agency contacts in addition to other assignments in the region
Willingness to travel 50% of the time
Proficient in SalesForce (is comfortable logging meetings, calls, pulling reports, etc.)
PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills a must
Must possess superb written and verbal communication skills
Uses Seller Crowd and checks the trades for updates on accounts
Strong and strategic relationship building with clients
Attention to detail and organization in daily tasks
Quick at problem solving internally and externally while managing stakeholders through the process
Fundamental understanding of business drivers (P/L, Operating Statement, COGS, Revenue, etc.)
Applies analytical skills to interpret data and uses independent judgment and discretion in developing solutions to a variety of work problems
What We Offer
At GumGum, competitive base pay is a part of a total rewards package which also includes benefits, an emphasis on recognition, development, and wellness.The reasonable estimated total compensation range (base + commission) for this role is $440,000 - $480,000 OTE. Individual compensation will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant qualifications, work location, and labor market conditions.
The total rewards package offered also includes an employer-matched 401(k) retirement plan, and depending on the role, participation in a bonus, commission, or stock incentive program.
