What we’re hiring for:
We are a growing fintech organization looking to add a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test with strong Java development skills for our Global IT Operations team! This is more like a developer role than traditional manual test engineer role, you will be expected to design, write and debug complex automated test code in Java, not just execute manual tests.
What you’ll be responsible for in this role:
Reviewing requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
Creating detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
Planning and coordinating testing activities, preparing reports to communicate outcomes of quality assurance activities
Preparing quality assurance policies and procedures
Designing, developing, executing and debugging advanced automated test frameworks and test cases in Java
Identifying, recording, documenting and tracking bugs
Performing thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
Developing and applying testing processes for new and existing products
Tracking quality assurance metrics and statistics
Staying up to date with new testing tools, different types of test strategies, and assuring ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements
Communicating technical information, both written and verbal, effectively to other team members, teams and customers of varying technical experience
Working collaboratively with other team members, teams and customers on projects, and other similar or related tasks.
This is not an exhaustive list, and your duties and responsibilities will also include any incidental and administrative duties as are reasonably required or reasonably desirable for the performance of the duties and responsibilities set out above.
What experiences and skills are necessary to be successful in this role:
Previous experience in backend Java enterprise software system testing including frameworks and tools such as JUnit, Postman, JMeter, or Selenium
Previous experience in front end UI testing, API (REST) testing, and Version Control with Git
Experience working with CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins or other tools.
Proven record with large complex projects and SDLC processes.
Strong proficiency in Java (required) — able to design, implement, and debug complex test automation code and frameworks. This is a hands-on coding role.
Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL Databases such as MySQL and Cassandra. Ability to write and execute SQL queries.
Experience with SFTP, reviewing logs and understanding of log levels.
Great problem solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to read, write, listen, and speak English with at least business fluency.
Note: This is not a manual testing role. Applicants without hands-on Java and SQL development experience will not be considered.
