Assistant Director (Data Architecture)

As Assistant Director (Data Architecture & Standards), we offer you the opportunity to shape the future of data architecture across critical Operations and Intelligence domains in the Singapore Armed Forces. This role offers exposure to emerging technologies in AI, Machine Learning, and cloud computing, allowing you to research and introduce innovative data tools and platforms that directly impact Singapore Armed Forces capabilities. You will work on complex challenges while building your expertise in a mission-critical environment with support from experienced stakeholders across the organisation.

What You Will Do
Design and implement data architecture for Operations and Intelligence domains
Act as a translator for business needs within the Singapore Armed Forces and coordinate resources in developing and implementing domain data strategies
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for data catalogues, data hubs and authoritative data sources
Communicate both high-level and low-level technical details to engineers and business stakeholders Conduct data maturity assessments for Operations and Intelligence domains
Research and implement data governance, quality and emerging technologies (eg. AI/ML)
Lead technical design of data governance, security and privacy to fulfil compliance requirements
Work with Digital Transformation Centre and commercial partners to introduce tools to detect data quality issues and enhance quality of data
Implement data quality frameworks and processes to address requirements
Scan and examine data tools and platforms in the market to enhance/upgrade existing data infrastructure
Co-develop data policies for Singapore Armed Forces Cloud architecture
Apply domain-oriented data architecture for scalability and flexibility
What You Will Bring
Education in engineering or computer science preferred
6 years of data-related experience in areas such as data policy, governance or analytics
Understanding of database management, data modelling, and data governance
Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills to collaborate with Ministry of Defence/Singapore Armed Forces stakeholders and external professionals
Strong interest and conversance in data science and digital technology
Initiative and drive to manage complex data issues in the Singapore Armed Forces
Relevant experience in database management systems, data analytics and data science will be advantageous
Experience in - complex and large organisation in operations-related work to understand operational data will be advantageous
