WHAT YOU WILL DO
Support ongoing compliance monitoring activities by reviewing documentation, tracking regulatory requirements, and identifying exceptions for escalation
Conduct sanctions screening in line with applicable regulatory regimes, including name matching, alert review, and escalation where appropriate.
Perform negative news (adverse media) screening on customers, vendors, and employees to identify potential financial crime, sanctions, corruption, or reputational risks.
Perform sanctions screening and review of sanctions screening alerts and escalate potential matches where required under established procedures
Perform compliance testing over internal control process to determine control effectiveness or deficiencies
Maintain logs, trackers, and reports related to compliance monitoring and sanctions screening activities
Prepare and submit surplus lines filings and related tax payments under guidance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to state requirements and deadlines
Track and maintain surplus lines documentation, filings, and payment records to support audit readiness
Support licensing and appointment requests by gathering required information and assisting with submissions
Prepare and submit Secretary of State filings under guidance, ensuring required information is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
Assist with broker onboarding by collecting, reviewing for completeness, and organizing required documents (e.g., licenses, E&O certificates, W-9s)
Maintain organized electronic records for compliance, onboarding, and entity documentation
Support compliance workflows by checking documentation for accuracy and completeness across surplus lines and monitoring activities
Monitor regulatory updates related to surplus lines and compliance requirements and escalate relevant changes
Provide administrative and documentation support for internal and external audits
Provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to the Compliance team, including ad hoc reporting and data validation as needed
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
2–4 years of experience in the insurance industry compliance testing/internal audit experience preferred
Proven experience in sanctions screening and negative news/adverse media screening within a compliance, financial crime, or risk function.
Strong understanding of global sanctions frameworks and regulatory expectations.
Hands-on experience using screening tools and databases for sanctions and adverse media checks.
Ability to assess complex information, exercise sound judgment, and apply a risk-based approach.
Working knowledge of surplus lines compliance concepts, including stamping offices, surplus lines taxes, and filing requirements
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a process-driven environment
Solid organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable escalating issues appropriately
Ability to coordinate tasks across teams and follow established procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (tracking, basic formulas), Word, and PowerPoint
Experience working in a shared services, offshore, or compliance support role a plus
