Impact of a Senior FinOps Analyst
As a Senior FinOps Analyst, you provide the high-level technical and financial leadership necessary to ensure our cloud infrastructure is both efficient and commercially scalable. You are a primary architect of our FinOps practice, transforming massive cloud consumption datasets into strategic roadmaps that drive measurable, long-term cost improvements. By owning the unit economics of our cloud environment, you empower the organization to innovate aggressively while maintaining world-class fiscal discipline.
In this senior-level role, you are accountable for the strategic outcomes of cloud cost management across the enterprise. You act as the authoritative bridge between Engineering, Finance, and Executive leadership, mandating best practices for resource tagging, commitment architecture, and waste elimination. Your work ensures that cloud investments are not just transparent, but are a predictable driver of business value.
This individual contributor role will report into the Senior Director, FP&A and IT, as part of the Finance team.
What to expect
Strategic Roadmap & Governance: Design and lead the execution of the FinOps roadmap, ensuring all global initiatives align with multi-year business objectives and architectural evolution.
Advanced Unit Economics: Define and track sophisticated unit cost metrics (e.g., cost per customer, cost per transaction) to provide the Board with clear visibility into cloud efficiency vs. revenue growth.
Engineering Partnership & Advocacy: Embed with Engineering and Product teams to integrate "Cost-as-a-Code" principles, ensuring architectural cost-efficiency is a pre-requisite for deployment cycles.
Stakeholder Enablement: Act as the primary advisor to stakeholders, translating technical cloud complexities into financial risks and opportunities to ensure strategic alignment across the organization.
Financial Controllership: Lead the budget forecasting process using driver-based models; ensure all cloud operations adhere to strict financial controls and compliance standards.
Commitment Monitoring: Actively monitor and optimize the utilization of Reserved Instances (RIs), Savings Plans, and Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) across our multi-cloud environment.
Strategic Vendor Relations: Lead the analysis of Cloud Service Provider (CSP) pricing trends and Private Pricing Agreements to negotiate and secure optimal commercial terms.
Optimization Initiatives: Lead the execution of specific cost-saving projects, using data analysis and experimentation to drive continuous improvement in cloud resource efficiency.
What you bring
Data Manipulation: Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel/Google Sheets is mandatory.You are comfortable building models with large datasets and using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or PowerBI) to visualize complex trends.
Experience in FinOps or cloud cost management: You have proven ability to influence FinOps cloud architectural decisions.
Cloud Domain Knowledge: Proven experience managing billing and discount mechanisms (RIs, CUDs) across at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Analytical Rigor: The ability to prioritize based on cost fluctuations and break down complex billing data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and financial stakeholders
Collaborative Mindset: Great communication skills, resilience and a track record of working effectively within cross-functional teams to improve processes and drive cost-efficiency outcomes.
Nice to have
An active FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) certification.
An understanding of FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost & Usage Specification) as the emerging standard for cloud billing data.
Familiarity with ESG reporting and the ability to correlate cloud efficiency with carbon footprint metrics.
