ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for an experienced and business-minded General Counsel to join our team in Berlin. Reporting directly to the Founder and COO, you will serve as a strategic partner to the management team, driving the company’s global legal strategy, governance, and compliance as we continue to scale internationally.
You will lead a small, high-performing Legal team, covering commercial, data privacy, and corporate matters. You’ll be a key voice in shaping how the company navigates global growth, builds trust with customers and regulators, and embeds a proactive, solution-oriented legal culture across all functions.
This is a full-time role based in Berlin.
ONCE YOU ARE HERE YOU WILL:
Lead the Legal Function: Own and scale Talon.One’s legal strategy, operations, and processes to support our global business objectives and enterprise customer base
Advise the Leadership Team: Serve as the primary legal advisor to the Founder, COO, and management team, offering clear, business-minded counsel on strategic and operational decisions
Enable Commercial Success: Your team partners closely with our Sales, Customer Success, and Finance teams to negotiate, close, and manage SaaS contracts that align with both customer needs and company goals
Oversee Key Legal Areas: Ensure excellence across commercial law, corporate governance, data privacy (GDPR), IP, employment, and international expansion
Build Scalable Legal Frameworks: Design efficient legal processes that enable growth while maintaining compliance and mitigating risk in a pragmatic, non-bureaucratic way
Foster Risk Awareness (Not Risk Aversion): Guide the business in assessing and categorizing legal risk, helping leadership make informed decisions with confidence
Lead and Develop the Team: Empower, mentor, and grow a high-performing legal team, fostering ownership, autonomy, and collaboration across all areas of the business
Manage External Counsel: Oversee and coordinate external legal support in multiple jurisdictions to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
You have 15+ years of post-qualification legal experience, with significant exposure to B2B SaaS or tech scale-ups, ideally with global operations.
You are qualified to practice law in Europe (German or UK qualification preferred, other EU or US jurisdictions welcome)
You have deep experience with commercial contracting, data protection (GDPR), corporate governance, and international expansion
You have proven success leading and developing a legal team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
You combine strong business acumen with excellent legal judgment, translating complex issues into actionable business insights
You thrive in a hybrid, collaborative environment and are comfortable balancing hands-on work with strategic oversight
You are fluent in English; German language fluency is a plus
