Location: India (Remote)
Role Purpose:
Jumio is seeking an exceptional 'Associate Director of Accounting' to lead our India-based Shared Services team. This role is responsible for building and leading high-performing accounting teams that consistently deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial results at both entity and consolidated company levels.
The 'Associate Director of Accounting' translates company strategy into clear operational goals, strengthens ownership and accountability across teams, and fosters a culture of rigor, inclusion, and continuous improvement. The mission of this role is to enable teams to do their best work while driving measurable business impact through strong financial execution.
The role reports directly to the Director of Accounting based at the Company’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, USA.
Role Value:
This role owns global month-end close and consolidations, oversees Accounts Payable and General Ledger operations and is responsible for delivering financial results while coordinating the continued development and maturity of the Shared Services organization. The Associate Director of Accounting provides the financial foundation that enables Jumio to focus on its mission by ensuring scalable, compliant, and well-controlled accounting operations.
Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Operations
Lead global month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous acceleration of close cycles
Prepare, review and own the global month-end close packages, including financial statements, flux analysis, and key management schedules
Oversee General Ledger and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring strong execution, controls, and service levels
Perform detailed review and analysis of all key accounting areas, identifying risks, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement
Drive consistent application of accounting policies and ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls
Audit, Compliance & Statutory Support
Support corporate audits by coordinating audit requests, preparing schedules, and ensuring timely resolution of audit inquiries
Support statutory filings and local audits across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and deadlines
Partner with Tax, FP&A, and external advisors to support regulatory and compliance requirements
People Leadership & Process Excellence
Build, develop, and retain high-performing accounting teams, fostering ownership, accountability, and professional growth
Strengthen review rigor, judgment, and escalation standards across the organization
Drive process improvements, automation, and standardization to support scalability and efficiency
Act as a trusted partner to global stakeholders, providing clear communication and dependable execution
Experience & Qualifications
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a people leadership role managing accounting or shared services teams
Strong experience leading month-end and quarter-end close, including global consolidations in a multi-entity environment
Proven background overseeing General Ledger and Accounts Payable operations, with demonstrated ability to drive accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls
Deep understanding of US GAAP, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Ownership of the Indian income taxes, GST returns governmental reporting/compliance requirements
Hands-on experience supporting corporate audits and statutory audits, including preparation of audit schedules and resolution of audit findings
Track record of building and developing high-performing teams, strengthening review rigor, and driving accountability and ownership across functions
Experience driving process improvements, standardization, and automation in a scaled or shared services environment
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues early, exercise sound judgment, and drive timely resolution
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with global finance and cross-functional teams
