Real-Time Monitoring: Utilize tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar) to monitor network infrastructure, cloud platforms, and applications for performance, availability, and security alerts
Triage & Resolution: Act as the first-line response to outages or degradations; perform initial troubleshooting and restore service whenever possible
Alert Validation: Perform alert triage and validation to assess impact, ensuring noise reduction by filtering false positives
Security Awareness: Detect operational symptoms of security incidents (e.g., unusual traffic) and escalate to the SOC according to established security protocols
Routine Operations & Maintenance
Runbook Execution: Execute step-by-step runbooks and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to handle common incidents and routine tasks consistently
Backup & Job Management: Monitor scheduled backups and batch processes, identifying stalled jobs and taking immediate corrective action
Maintenance Support: Monitor system stability during maintenance windows and validate post-change system health to ensure no adverse impacts
Routine Health Checks: Perform routine checks on servers, routers, and switches to ensure redundancy systems (failover, load balancers) are fully operational
Communication & Documentation
Ticket Management: Accurately document incident details, categorization, and resolution steps in the ticketing system
Escalation: Identify complex problems that exceed Level 1 scope and escalate to senior engineers or specific teams (e.g., CloudOps/SRE) following defined processes
Reporting: Assist in generating daily/weekly operational reports regarding network health and performance trends
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience: 5+ years of experience in IT or Network Operations
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar)
