Linux Kernel Networking Engineer (Host/WLAN)
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Software Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s products, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Software Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

EY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understand concepts of Wlan VIFs, DMA and firmware-host communication
Design and develop Wired/Wireless LAN /5G features - specifically on the host side- with deep understanding of the complete Wlan host stack
Deep understanding and hands on experience in OS concepts (synchronization, threads, user-kernel separation, scheduler etc.)
Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts
Stay informed of Wireless software and hardware trends and innovations
Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
Participating in design and development of new features and support of existing features
Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
Develop technical relationships with peers and partners
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
5 to 12+ years of relevant industry experience in strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred; Assembly language programming abilities on different CPU cores a definite plus.
Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
Knowledge of different WiFi/BT/5G standards is a definite plus
Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs
Experience with Linux and/or any Real Time Operating System development
Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
