Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default
Proton was founded in 2014 by scientists from CERN on a simple truth: privacy is a fundamental human right. Since then, we’ve built the world’s largest encrypted email service (Proton Mail) and expanded into Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar—tools used by millions globally to protect their freedom, fight censorship, and keep their data safe. In some situations, Proton has literally helped save lives!
We are profitable, independent (no VC control), and selectively hire from the top ~1% of applicants. Our 500+ team members across 50+ countries come from leading organizations and elite academic backgrounds. We move fast, keep hierarchy light, and prioritize impact over optics. If you want to do meaningful work with exceptionally high-caliber people, this is it. Join us and do work you can truly be proud of. Check our open-source projects here!
About the position
Our Creative & Growth Studio is seeking a talented Brand & Graphic Designer to join a passionate design team dedicated to creating and enhancing our brand‑focused advertising experiences.
Working closely with Marketing, Brand, Content, and Product Development teams, you will ensure that Proton’s visual identity shines consistently across blog content, communication materials, marketplaces, and product-marketing touchpoints. Your expertise in visual storytelling, illustration, and graphic design will help us deliver compelling, on-brand experiences that attract and convert visitors into loyal users of Proton’s privacy ecosystem.
We are creative problem-solvers, design lovers, and innovators who collaborate to deliver user-centered, brand-consistent solutions. By joining us, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the visual language of Proton’s most visible campaigns in Europe, making a measurable impact on the entire customer journey.
What you will do:
Produce strong vector illustrations and graphic compositions to support storytelling across blog articles, feature launches, educational content, and promotional campaigns.
Design high-quality visual assets (blog illustrations, communication supports, marketplace assets, social banners, and product-marketing materials) from brief to final production, in line with the Proton Design System.
Create and evolve brand elements such as logos, icons, illustrations, visual systems, and graphic components to keep Proton’s identity fresh, distinctive, and consistent.
Collaborate with Marketing, Content, Brand, and Engineering teams to deliver on-brand, visually impactful, and conversion-oriented designs.
Ensure consistency across all touchpoints by maintaining and evolving brand guidelines and reusable design components.
Job requirements
5+ years of professional experience as a Brand Designer or Illustrator (agency or in‑house).
Strong expertise in brand systems and the ability to apply visual guidelines consistently across a wide range of formats.
Excellent skills in vector design, illustration, typography, layout, and graphic composition.
High proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign; After Effects is a plus).
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
Strong attention to detail, visual consistency, and craft.
