Backend and Infrastructure Engineer - VC backed startup (Munich)

We are hiring a Backend & Infrastructure Engineer to build and scale the platform that powers our energy products. You will own the infrastructure and data systems that connect hundreds of battery installations, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability as we grow.

We install large-scale batteries at industrial sites and connect them into an intelligent network that manages electricity in real time, turning factories into energy hubs and making intermittent renewables reliable, dispatchable, low-cost power available around the clock.

What You Will Do
Own platform reliability and infrastructure scaling as we grow from pilot sites to hundreds of connected battery systems.
Contribute to data platform architecture – help shape how we ingest, store, and serve time-series data from battery systems and EMS integrations.
Optimize database performance for high-throughput telemetry data at scale.
Design monitoring and alerting logic for system health, timeseries data, and model performance in production.
Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for backend services on AWS.
Work closely with our data science team to bring models into production with a strong focus on robustness and real-world performance.
What We're Looking For
3–5+ years of experience in backend engineering, infrastructure, or platform roles.
Production AWS experience (ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, RDS).
Strong PostgreSQL skills – query optimization, indexing, performance tuning.
Python backend development (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy preferred).
Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
Comfort with SQL for data exploration and pipeline development.
Bonus if you are experienced with:
Time-series databases (TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, or similar)
MLOps practices – model versioning, experiment tracking, CI/CD for ML pipelines
Energy sector or IoT experience
