The Role
We are seeking a Compliance Officer to act as a strategic partner to Trading and Technology. In this role, you will translate complex regulatory and market conduct requirements into clear, pragmatic, and commercially sound guidance.
You will combine strong regulatory expertise with a deep understanding of trading strategies, algorithmic trading systems, and market structure to enable responsible innovation while maintaining the highest standards of market integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering
Act as trusted advisor to Trading & Technology on regulatory & market conduct matters
Embed compliance into strategic and operational decision-making
Provide constructive challenge while balancing regulatory and commercial objectives
Build strong relationships across Trading desks and Technology teams
Regulatory Advisory & Oversight
Serve as subject matter expert on EU and Dutch financial regulation
Translate regulatory and exchange requirements into risk-based, practical guidance
Review new trading strategies, algorithms, and technology developments
Conduct regulatory self-assessments (including RTS 6 and MAR)
Monitor regulatory developments and enforcement actions; provide forward-looking regulatory intelligence
Regulatory Engagement & Representation
Represent IMC in interactions with regulators, exchanges, and industry associations
Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, examinations, and investigations
Support and manage regulatory reviews and projects
Compliance Program & Risk Management
Support the development and maintenance of the compliance framework
Ensure compliance risks and issues are appropriately identified, escalated, and reported
Prepare and present compliance reporting and management updates
Contribute to surveillance design and assist in investigations where necessary
Draft and update compliance policies and procedures
Prepare and deliver compliance training
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
8+ years of experience in compliance within financial markets, preferably in an algorithmic trading environment
Strong knowledge of regulations applicable to algorithmic trading firms (MiFID/RTS 6)
Solid understanding of global financial markets and market structure
Experience partnering with Trading and Technology in a business-aligned role
Experience interacting with regulators and managing regulatory inquiries
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent judgment and decision-making ability
Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong stakeholder management skills across all seniority levels
Structured, proactive, and hands-on approach
High sense of ownership and accountability
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
