About the role
Key Responsibilities
1. Waste Hauling Operations Management
Oversee day-to-day commercial, industrial, roll-off, and transfer hauling operations across multiple sites within the assigned area.
Ensure safe, timely, and compliant collection and transportation services.
Standardize routing, dispatch, and service processes across all locations.
Partner with site leadership to align fleet capacity and staffing with service demands.
Ensure service reliability and rapid resolution of service disruptions or customer escalations.
2. Performance & KPI Management
Drive performance across key metrics, including:
Route efficiency
Asset utilization (trucks, containers, compactors, roll-offs)
Driver utilization and productivity
Service exceptions
Overtime control
Cost per route / cost per ton
Safety performance (incident rates, DOT compliance)
Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective action plans.
Conduct regular performance reviews with site leadership and support teams.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
3. Fleet & Asset Optimization
Ensure optimal deployment and utilization of collection vehicles and hauling equipment.
Partner with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve fleet readiness.
Monitor preventative maintenance compliance and equipment lifecycle planning.
Improve route density and reduce deadhead miles.
4. Driver & Workforce Management
Lead and develop local transportation support roles (dispatchers, lead drivers, planners, etc.).
Monitor driver productivity, hours of service compliance, and route performance.
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and retention initiatives.
Promote a strong safety-first culture across all sites.
Ensure consistent enforcement of company policies and operational standards.
5. Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations.
Monitor safety performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Conduct audits to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
Drive initiatives to reduce preventable accidents and workers’ compensation claims.
6. Financial & Budget Management
Manage area-level transportation budgets and cost controls.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through improved routing, labor management, and asset deployment.
Support forecasting and capacity planning.
7. Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Lead area-wide transportation meetings and performance reviews.
Share best practices across sites to improve consistency and efficiency.
Support implementation of routing technology and transportation systems.
Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, Environmental Services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of transportation or fleet management experience, preferably in waste hauling, recycling, or environmental services.
Experience managing multi-site operations.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet compliance requirements.
Proven ability to manage KPIs and improve operational performance.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing supervisors or support staff.

Pay Transparency
Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $113,900.00 - $162,700.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
