Unified Intelligent Matching Systems (UIMS) team builds systems that establish product identity, prevent identity defects and enable high fidelity product matching to improve and maintain Amazon catalog identity quality. The solutions ensure sufficient identity quality for product payloads and accurately compare product payloads to determine their homogeneity, enabling correct mapping to existing Amazon catalog items. We are building new systems leveraging existing systems where possible to support the full breadth of Amazon’s global traffic of 1B+ daily transactions under ambitious timelines.
Successful candidates are passionate about translating high-level, ambiguous business goals to software solutions that enable multiple businesses. You are comfortable taking initiative and working alongside top-notch software developers.
Key job responsibilities
An SDE II on the UIMS team works autonomously and delivers significant projects which meet the technical and business requirements. We are building new systems in fast evolving areas - to be successful as an SDE II in the team they should be able to handle ambiguity and operate under tight schedules. They would need to build new services and systems from scratch supporting hundreds of millions of transactions daily built on newly developed AI models while interacting with an established Amazon eco-system. They need to be inquisitive to understand the customer requirements & existing/potential solutions, think critically when working on solutions and show good judgement to balance short- versus long-term program needs. They would need to communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders. An SDE II works with the team and relevant stakeholders to invent, design and build software that is stable and scalable. They need to make continuous improvements identifying engineering and data integrity opportunities. They need to be active in operational support for the team, identifying opportunities and ensure that the root causes are resolved. They would provide meaningful feedback through code reviews or otherwise to the team and mentor junior engineers.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
