Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) is AMD’s innovation incubator, an internal startup that moves fast, prototypes boldly, and turns breakthrough ideas into scalable products and platforms. ATG operates with a startup culture: strong ownership, a high technical bar, a bias for action, and close collaboration with engineering, product, and ecosystem partners to advance AMD’s next-generation solutions.
We are seeking a seasoned Systems Architect to design and implement AI-driven solutions. This role focuses on architecting scalable, robust systems that leverage artificial intelligence technologies to solve complex business and technical challenges in camera imaging and adjacent domains.
THE ROLE:
End-to-end Solution Leadership: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and industry partners to design complete camera system solutions that meet customer requirements and technical constraints.
Champion AI Deployment and Process Improvement: Develop deployment strategies and technical roadmaps for AI solutions in camera imaging and beyond. Define and demonstrate best practices for AI-accelerated system scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Architectural Design and Influence: Design end‑to‑end camera solutions and provide strategic guidance to internal and external architecture teams. Document system architectures, tradeoffs, and key decisions throughout the development lifecycle.
Cross‑Team Leverage & IP Reuse: Work in collaboration with component owners and adjacent platform teams to maximize reuse and leverage of ISP/imaging software assets and IP across AMD businesses and product lines.
Ecosystem & Standards Collaboration: Collaborate with external customers, strategic partners, and standards/platform stakeholders to align a common technical vision, influence requirements, and enable interoperable solutions.
Global Customer Engagement: Partner with customer engineering teams to support and deliver solutions.
THE PERSON:
Software Development and Architecture: Demonstrate strong technical leadership in defining, driving, and deploying multi-year solutions, industry, and customer impacts, with proven expertise in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
Hands-on AI/ML Experience: Strong understanding of AI/ML algorithms, frameworks, and deployment workflows. Experience with ONNX, ROCm, TensorFlow, and PyTorch; proficiency in Python and C/C++.
Ownership & Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to drive end-to-end ownership—from problem definition and architecture through implementation tradeoffs, integration, and delivery—while setting a high technical bar and unblocking teams.
Global Teamwork & Communication: Effective communicator and team player, experienced in working across global teams, time zones, and cultural contexts.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Camera and ISP development: Experience with camera low-level drivers (Windows or Linux), knowledge of camera tuning and optimization, camera sensor drivers and imaging pipelines
Computer Vision and Edge AI: Background in computer vision applications, edge AI and embedded systems
System-level and general software development: Knowledge of real‑time processing, low‑level driver/firmware development, and system‑wide software engineering principles.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or Applied Math
LOCATION:
Santa Clara, Austin, Markham
