Front-end Engineer III, AWS EventBridge

Amazon · Vancouver, BC, CAN, CA · about 6 hours ago

Description
Would you like to be part of a team shaping how developers build event-driven architectures, serverless applications, and durable workflows at cloud scale?
The Workflow Experience team owns the console experiences for AWS Step Functions, Amazon Simple Workflow Service (SWF), Amazon EventBridge, and AWS Lambda Durable Functions — a suite of services that form the backbone of how developers orchestrate, automate, and coordinate work in the cloud. Our mission is to deliver an exceptional developer experience that optimizes and delights developers through all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is genuinely excited about technology, passionate about learning, and views every customer interaction as an opportunity to create an exceptional experience. You'll join a team of highly skilled engineers working across a broad and impactful technology space. The right candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment and is comfortable owning significant scope across multiple products.
Come join a team where builders build innovative software and delight customers. You will learn, grow, and have lasting impact on how developers build modern applications in the world of serverless and event-driven architectures.
Key job responsibilities
As a key member of the Workflow Experience team, you will be an innovator and significant autonomous contributor, playing a direct role in shaping the console experiences across AWS Step Functions, Amazon SWF, Amazon EventBridge, and AWS Lambda Durable Functions. You will ensure operational and availability excellence across these services and consistently deliver high-quality solutions to difficult front-end engineering problems, applying appropriate technologies, UX patterns, and best practices.
In this role, you will work with your team to invent, design, and build software that is stable, performant, secure, and accessible. You'll collaborate on feature ideas with customers, designers, product managers, stakeholders, and peers, increasing the speed of implementation of UX features by identifying and mitigating design risks early. You will be proficient in view layout and rendering technologies (e.g., responsiveness, device/browser support, progressive enhancement, interaction fluidity) and know when it is appropriate to make graceful fallbacks. You'll make appropriate software and design trade-offs, re-use and extend where possible, and understand how to build, package, deploy, and deliver code and supporting assets to users while optimizing delivery through caching and compression.
Your technical domain will be broad and diverse, involving core programming languages, modern front-end frameworks, and an array of technologies that seamlessly integrate workflow orchestration and event-driven capabilities into intuitive user experiences. The ultimate aim is to amplify developer agility and enable customers to build, monitor, and iterate on their workflows and event-driven applications with confidence.
Beyond individual contributions, you will help the team grow by participating in code reviews, software design and UX discussions, team planning, and operational reviews. You will be part of the on-call rotation, and in the event of issues, you will troubleshoot, research root causes, and thoroughly resolve defects. You will train new team members on console architecture, cross-browser and cross-device considerations, security practices, and how the product fits into the broader AWS ecosystem. You will also participate in the interview process and help mentor junior engineers.
