This is a high-visibility and widely multi-functional role, spanning post-silicon implementation & product delivery.
We are looking for a Senior Linux Kernel & System‑Level Power Management Engineer with deep expertise in Linux kernel internals and platform power optimization. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing power management features across the Linux kernel and platform stack, including S3, S0ix, boot‑time optimization, clock gating, and power gating, for x86 and SoC‑based systems.
The ideal candidate will own end‑to‑end power lifecycle, from early boot through runtime and low‑power states, working closely with firmware, silicon, validation, and performance teams to deliver production‑quality, power‑efficient platforms.
THE PERSON:
Your curiosity will drive your learning and innovation to improve how we as a group, and an organization, can get better every day. Your peers will provide you a results-oriented and encouraging environment for your career growth, fueling your opportunity to be a part of Delighting Our Customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernel power management frameworks and features with production‑quality robustness and upstream‑grade coding practices.
Own and optimize system sleep and low‑power states Debug and resolve power management issues/regressions across kernel layers and colloborating with FW/BIOS/SoC teams.
Own static and dynamic power management of devices and IP blocks in a Linux x86 environment
Implement and debug Linux Runtime PM (RPM) for platform and PCIe devices.
Design, validate, and debug clock gating and power gating mechanisms across CPU, SoC, and peripheral IPs.
Collaborate with silicon and firmware teams to align Linux PM behavior with hardware power architecture.
Drive boot‑time optimization across firmware, bootloader, kernel initialization, and early user space.
Optimize power behavior across Linux kernel subsystems
Drive power‑related bug fixing and regression management across multiple kernel versions.
Perform deep root‑cause analysis of low‑level kernel, driver, firmware, and hardware interactions.
Contribute fixes and enhancements to upstream Linux kernel power management subsystems where applicable.
Maintain and backport fixes for long‑term supported kernels.
Collaborate closely with firmware, silicon, validation, performance, and customer teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship on Linux power management architecture and best practices.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform power efficiency and user experience.
Work across engineering teams and subject areas spanning silicon, firmware, hardware, and software
Coordinate debug of issues and drive them to closure
Pull together meetings, set up clear agendas and follow up on action items
Deliver regular progress updates toward program goals
Make tough decisions such as priority calls based on partial or incomplete data
Proactively drive continuous improvement for post-silicon power and performance activities
