Work You’ll Do
The Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (DMHA) Analyst supports the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (CFE-DM) within the Applied Research and Information Sharing (ARIS) Branch by researching and producing written products on disaster management and humanitarian assistance. The role focuses on developing operationally relevant publications that describe disaster management capabilities and vulnerabilities globally, with an emphasis on the Indo-Pacific region, to strengthen coordination and effectiveness in disaster response and humanitarian assistance missions.
This is an on-site position located on Ford Island, Oahu, Hawaii, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week). This is not a telework position. Travel is required (CONUS and OCONUS) up to 10%, supporting research symposiums, workshops, trainings, exercises, and other whole-of-Center activities.
Key Responsibilities
Applied Research & Written Product Development
Conduct research, analysis, and synthesis of disaster management data and information to produce accurate, comprehensive publications aligned to client-specific style and content requirements, including international civil-military coordination contexts.
Produce a wide range of disaster management and humanitarian assistance materials, including:
Fact sheets, case studies, best practices, research articles, and research studies
Disaster management reference country handbooks
Briefings, presentations, memos, information/policy papers, planning documents, and conference materials
Professional journal publications, situation reports, after action reports, and time-sensitive requests for information
Case Study and Training Content Support
Design and develop operationally relevant disaster response case studies for use in training modules.
Support civil-military training, exercises, operations, short-/long-term planning, and assessments in alignment with the USINDOPACOM theater campaign plan by researching, sharing information, and exchanging best practices.
Collaboration, Review Cycles & Quality Editing
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect and validate information, verify data integrity, and ensure analytic accuracy.
Facilitate integration of external feedback into documents; review comments, recommend improvements, and ensure products meet target audience needs.
Edit research products for logical flow, clarity, completeness, grammar, punctuation, and content quality.
Coordinate with graphics/design staff to ensure drafts meet final production standards for web and print publication.
Academic Partnerships, Outreach & Knowledge Sharing
Support the Academic Partnership Program by cultivating academic partnerships and facilitating information exchange with universities, students/interns, academic partners, international organizations, and related networks.
Coordinate marketing and outreach activities as needed, including website updates, brochure/report development, social media and newsletter content, and engagement with external institutions.
Stakeholder Engagement, Program Operations & Events
Liaise with other CFE-DM branches and engage staff with relevant expertise, relationships, or country/subject knowledge.
Organize and facilitate events, training sessions, and exercises tied to product development and dissemination.
Prepare and deliver presentations/briefings at CFE research and academic symposiums, workshops, and exercises.
Attend regular CFE-DM meetings and maintain an updated task/to-do deliverables dashboard for CFE-DM and ARIS.

Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism/Public Affairs, International Studies, Disaster Management, or a related field
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Active Secret security clearance required
5+ years of experience analyzing and synthesizing information, including writing and editing research projects
Experience developing products that promote civil-military coordination during humanitarian assistance and disaster response missions and training
Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
Strong writing and editing skills; ability to understand and accurately communicate DMHA content in Standard U.S. English.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to prepare and present reports, briefings, and presentations.
Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks, manage shifting timelines, and maintain strong time management and delivery discipline.
Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including formatting, editing, and publishing technical reports and similar products.
Ability to take direction while operating independently with high autonomy; strong collaboration skills and respect for diverse perspectives.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $102,750 to $171,250.
