About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled (Senior) BI Specialist to join our Finance team in Munich or Istanbul. This role will be instrumental in transforming complex financial data into actionable insights, driving data-informed decision-making not only within Finance but also across key departments including Data Operations, Product, and IT. The ideal candidate will be adept at leveraging Power BI for advanced visualization and analysis, with a keen interest in exploring and implementing innovative AI tools to enhance our data presentation capabilities.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, primarily focusing on financial performance, KPIs, and operational metrics, utilizing advanced DAX measures to deliver highly dynamic and accurate insights
Architect, optimize, and govern complex Excel-based financial models leveraging Power Query (and Power Pivot where applicable), ensuring robust data integrity, scalability, superior performance, rapid refresh capabilities, and intuitive usability for critical daily operational and strategic planning
Apply foundational T-SQL skills (nice-to-have) to query, validate, and transform data directly from relational databases when required, supporting seamless integration into BI workflows
Visualize and analyze large financial datasets to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, providing strategic recommendations to stakeholders
Serve as a primary strategic partner to the Head of Finance, Controller, and Finance Manager, proactively advising on financial reporting best practices, leading the evolution of sophisticated forecasting models, and providing critical analytical support for strategic planning and long-range organizational goals
Provide BI support and analytical expertise to other departments, including Data Operations, Product, and IT, tailoring solutions to their specific data needs, ensuring data accuracy and timely availability
Proactively identify and explore new data sources and integration methods to enrich our analytical capabilities. Develop and maintain project-specific dashboards, including automation of data extraction from Jira into Power BI, enabling daily monitoring and invoicing support
Lead the research, evaluation, and implementation of cutting-edge AI tools and techniques for advanced data visualization, predictive analytics, and insight generation, proposing and driving innovative solutions that create significant business value
Requirements
At least 7 years of professional experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst or Specialist, ideally with strong exposure to financial data and reporting
Proven, hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI
Strong experience working with diverse and complex data sources, including advanced proficiency in Excel (Power Query; Power Pivot is a plus)
Practical experience working with Jira and familiarity with ERP and/or CRM systems (e.g. Zoho or similar platforms)
Solid ability to analyze large and complex datasets, identify key insights, trends, and anomalies, and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations
Proven capability to communicate analytical findings with executive-level clarity and influence
Proficiency in SQL for extracting, querying, validating, and manipulating data from relational databases (highly desirable)
A genuine interest in AI concepts, particularly as they relate to data visualization, advanced analytics, and insight generation
Strong strategic and analytical problem-solving skills, combined with a high level of attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory; German language skills are a plus
