The Last Mile Planning team, part of the broader Last Mile Technology (LMT) organization, supports Amazon’s logistics network by building software for route, station, and capacity planning. These systems help operations teams plan and execute deliveries at scale. The team’s focus is on improving vehicle routing and planning systems to support efficient and reliable delivery operations. Within this organization, the Pre-Station Planning Technology team develops systems that estimate the number of stations, vehicles, drivers, and routes required to support delivery demand. These tools contribute to operational planning, cost management, and delivery performance across regions. We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE) with strong technical depth and experience building scalable software systems. In this role, you will contribute to initiatives that impact planning platforms used across Amazon’s delivery network. You will participate in defining technical and architectural direction and be involved across the software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, implementation, testing, and production support. Technical leader for the team with the ability to deliver against all odds. - Data driven approach for making right architecture decisions, managing business priorities - Drive adoption of emerging technologies including agentic AI and LLMs - Influence automation strategy across the organization About the team The Pre Station Planning Technology team is one of the critical teams supporting and enabling Last Mile operations for Amazon Worldwide.The services help estimate the precise number of stations, vehicles, drivers and routes to deliver billions of packages to customers worldwide and have a high impact on cost as well as deliver efficiency. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
