Senior Software Development Engineer, Gift card tech

Description We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join a collaborative and fast-evolving development environment at Amazon. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative global payments products and solutions. The Amazon Payments team at the Amazon India Development Center in Bangalore is building the next generation of global payments systems that enhance how customers pay. The team manages Amazon-branded payment offerings worldwide, continuously expanding features and introducing new products. Our portfolio includes co-branded credit cards, gift cards, rewards-based payment options, and other payment solutions aimed at delivering a seamless customer experience. This role offers opportunities to work on scalable, secure, and high-impact payments technologies. You will help define and implement extensible, multi-layered solutions that support both global and region-specific payment protocols and workflows. Ideal candidates will bring a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals and hands-on experience building full-stack or large-scale distributed systems. Familiarity with web-based or service-oriented architectures, particularly at scale, is beneficial. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
