Back to jobs Technical Writer / Senior Technical Writer Portland Apply We’re seeking a Technical Writer to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods. As a member of our Education team, you’ll have the opportunity to reach scientists across the globe and help integrate the exciting potential of computational drug and materials discovery into an array of research. You will also have the chance to apply design thinking to improve how scientists access information and answer their own questions regarding the use of Schrödinger software. This role will collaborate with several other teams to make high-quality, user-friendly documentation easily accessible with a goal of enabling researchers to find the answer they need. Please include a writing sample with your application that demonstrates your ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a specific audience. Who will love this job: A computational chemist with exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills A well-organized and detail-oriented professional who brings a working knowledge of common computational chemistry techniques A creative thinker who enjoys working collaboratively A capable time and project manager who’s comfortable meeting regular deadlines A person who is able to work in a team, as well as independently on self-directed tasks What you’ll do: Collaborate with Education, Product Development, Applications Science, and Support teams to develop documentation for computational small-molecule and biologics drug discovery Write, edit, and design documentation targeted towards varied audiences Manage complex, multi-step documentation projects in coordination with multiple stakeholders Work with the Education team to advance content in a team-oriented environment Develop in-depth familiarity with our entire suite of small-molecule, biologics, and materials science software, including packages for docking, molecular simulations, homology modeling, pharmacophore modeling, cheminformatics, and quantum mechanics What you should have: Master’s degree or higher in computational chemistry with a focus on drug discovery Experience with molecular modeling software tools, including common workflows and best practices for drug design Some familiarity with Confluence, Jira, and technical writing tools (Flare, Palio, general knowledge of CMS or CCMS) is a plus, but not required Some proficiency in Python, HTML, and/or CSS is a plus, but not required Some professional background with AI tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, and/or Claude is a plus, but not required Pay and perks: Schrödinger understands it’s people that make a company great. Estimated base salary range: $70,000 - $120,000. Actual compensation package is dependent on a number of factors, including, for example, experience, education, degrees held, market data, and business needs.
