Position Summary
The Import / Export Manager (Taiwan) is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Taiwan export control regulations, U.S. export control laws, and Taiwan import requirements for products, software, and technology. This role serves as the regional subject matter expert for cross border trade compliance, supports business operations in Taiwan, and partners closely with global compliance, legal, logistics, engineering, and supply chain teams.
The ideal candidate brings hands on operational experience, strong regulatory judgment, and the ability to translate complex import and export control requirements into practical business processes. The candidate is expected to have strong operational experience, regulatory interpretation, and the ability to contribute to solving complex compliance situations.
Key Responsibilities
Export Controls & Trade Compliance
Manage day to day compliance with Taiwan export control regulations, including strategic high-tech goods, controlled commodities, and licensing requirements
Ensure compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including:
ECCN classification
De minimis and foreign direct product rules‑direct product rules
Reexport and in country transfer requirements
Serve as the primary Taiwan point of contact for:
Taiwan Export license determinations and applications
End user, end use, and restricted party screening‑user, end‑use, and restricted party screening
Technology transfer and deemed export reviews
Advise business teams on export control impacts related to:
Engineering collaboration
R&D and manufacturing activities
Cross border data and technology flows‑border data and technology flows
Import Compliance (Taiwan)
Oversee Taiwan import compliance, including:
HS classification and valuation
Customs declaration accuracy
Import licensing and permit requirements
Coordination with customs brokers and freight forwarders
Resolve customs inquiries, audits, or inspections with Taiwan Customs authorities.
Support duty management, special programs, and compliance documentation.
Operational & Business Support
Partner with supply chain, logistics, and program teams to enable on time, compliant shipments.
Review and approve export and import transactions in ERP or trade management systems.
Support new product introductions (NPI) and supplier onboarding from a trade compliance perspective.
Assess compliance risks related to new markets, customers, or business models.
Governance, Training & Audits
Develop and maintain regional trade compliance procedures aligned with global policies.
Deliver export control and import compliance training to Taiwan based teams.
Support internal audits, government inquiries, and compliance investigations.
Identify gaps and drive continuous improvement in trade compliance processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of hands on import/export or trade compliance experience, with a strong focus on: ‑on import/export or trade compliance experience, with a strong focus on:
Taiwan export controls Strategic High-Tech Commodities (SHTC) controls
U.S. export controls (EAR; ITAR familiarity preferred)
Proven experience with:
ECCN classification and jurisdiction analysis
Export licensing and license exception analysis
Re‑exports and technology transfers
Solid working knowledge of Taiwan import regulations and customs processes.
Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government authorities.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in semiconductors, electronics, high tech manufacturing, or advanced technology sectors.
Familiarity with:
Global sanctions and restricted party screening
Trade automation or GTM systems (SAP GTS, Amber Road, OCR EASE, etc.)
Prior experience supporting U.S.‑headquartered multinational companies.
Certifications such as CCS, CES, CUSECO, or equivalent.
Key Competencies

Ability to balance compliance requirements with business objectives
Clear, confident communicator with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Detail oriented, organized, organized, and audit‑ready
Comfortable operating independently in a regional leadership role
